How Nicorette® InvisiPatch works

When you stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke, your body starts to miss the nicotine. You might experience cravings in the first few weeks or sudden urges to smoke over a period of months.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products like Nicorette® InvisiPatch help protect you from day to day cravings.

When applied, the InvisiPatch nicotine patch releases a reduced level of nicotine through the skin and into your body, helping to relieve cravings. The patch doesn't contain the same toxic chemicals found in cigarettes. You won't feel the same buzz you get from smoking, but you should notice you crave cigarettes less.

And it doesn't just fight cravings. The Nicorette® InvisiPatch can also help prevent other nicotine withdrawal symptoms, such as:

  • Irritability

  • Low mood

  • Restlessness

  • Anxiety

  • Poor concentration

  • Increased appetite.

How to use Nicorette® InvisiPatch

First things first, you need to pick the right nicotine patch strength for you to start on:

  • Step 1 - Nicorette® Invisi 25mg Patch - Start here if you smoke 10 or more cigarettes per day.

  • Step 2 - Nicorette® Invisi 15mg Patch - Start here if you smoke less than 10 cigarettes a day. You should also progress to this step if you've been on Step 1 for 8 weeks.

  • Step 3 - Nicorette® Invisi 10mg Patch - Once you've completed Step 2, you can reduce your patch strength to 10mg for the final 2-4 weeks (depending on your quit plan).

Once you ve chosen the right patch, you can start wearing it. Here's a step-by step guide on how and where to apply the patch correctly:

  1. The best place to put your InvisiPatch is on your upper arm, hip, or front or side of your chest - and you should alternate the area each day.

  2. Make sure the area is clean and dry before you apply the patch. You should also wash your hands.

  3. Cut along the edge of the child - resistant sachet to remove the patch.

  4. Peel away one part of the sliver backing foil to reveal a sticky surface - try not to touch this with your fingers.

  5. Carefully apply the sticky side to your chosen area, then peel off the remaining half of backing foil.

  6. Press the patch onto your skin with the palm of your hand or fingertips.

  7. Run your fingers around the edge of the patch to make sure it s secure.

  8. After 16 hours of wear, remove the patch and fold it in half, so the sticky sides come together. Place it back in the sachet or a piece of foil, then dispose of it in your household rubbish - out of reach of children and pets.

Whether you plan to start at Step 1 or Step 2, you should aim to stop using the patches within 12 weeks.

Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs) are clinically proven to help minimise cravings to help you quit smoking.

Nicotine patches should be worn on the front or side of the chest, upper arm, or hip.

The area you apply the patch should be clean, dry, and hairless.

Do not apply the nicotine patch on any skin that is irritated, burned, oily, or damaged in any way. Do not use the same area on two consecutive days.

Read the leaflet in the box for full details before use.

Nicorette patches can be used to help smokers who want to quit or reduce cigarettes prior to quitting, and as a safer alternative to smoking for smokers and those around them.

You can use Nicorette® patches as part of a step down programme, meaning you reduce the strength of the patch after week 8 of use, with the strength depending on the amount of cigarettes you smoke. Once you‘ve reduced the strength of the patch over time, you can aim to stop using them completely.

Read the product leaflet in full before use.

Nicotine patches work to gradually reduce your body’s addiction to nicotine by relieving cravings and other withdrawal symptoms. They provide your body with a low dose of nicotine while avoiding chemicals such as carbon monoxide, tar, lead and ammonia that you would take in when smoking a cigarette.

A nicotine patch is a form of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). It‘s a small and transparent patch that you wear on your skin like a plaster. The nicotine is then absorbed through your skin to help relieve cravings.

Reviews

Nicotine is an addictive substance, which makes quitting smoking (and vaping) so difficult. Nicorette also contains nicotine but is designed specifically to fight craving as you reduce to quit tobacco/nicotine. We believe that being free of both tobacco and nicotine is the best quitting outcome, so we do not encourage use of our products unless it is within the context of quitting (including reducing prior to quitting). If you have a concern or an issue with ongoing use of Nicorette, please contact Nicorette Customer Services or speak directly to your GP/HCP for further guidance.
